Smart Sewage Network Infrastructure Connection System

Solution Overview

The Municipality of Jbeil-Byblos is collaborating with 100RC Platform Partner ESRI and Veolia to examine how to plan and build infrastructure connections through a well-maintained sewage network to connect a wastewater treatment plant to houses and buildings.[1] This approach addresses a critical infrastructure gap in the new city, where a wastewater treatment plant has already been built but lacks the necessary connections to residential and commercial structures.[1] Planning and building the required infrastructure through a well-maintained sewage network is important for the city's resilience.[1]

Technical Components

The implementation utilizes KAPTA™ 3000-AC4 sensors for real-time wastewater network monitoring.[3] These sensors enable continuous surveillance of the sewage infrastructure to support operational management and maintenance of the network connections being planned between the existing treatment plant and buildings throughout the new city development.[1][3]

Implementation Details

The Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) serves as the action owner for building wastewater infrastructure in Byblos' new city.[2] Action partners include Byblos Municipality, Veolia, and the Union of Municipalities, forming a collaborative framework to address the infrastructure connection challenge.[2] The project focuses on establishing the sewage network infrastructure required to link the already-constructed wastewater treatment plant to residential and commercial buildings in the new city area.[1]
